What networks are really balanced?

Last week, a letter-writer recommended we get off cable to get balance in our news (“For balance, get off cable news” April 27). He suggests watching ABC, CBS, etc., to get balance and not watching cable networks like Fox. Can anyone honestly tell me when these balanced networks tell the truth? Are we supposed to believe that moderators who obviously hate President Trump have balanced views? The left cannot get over the fact that Hillary lost. Fake news is not propaganda from the right. As for Fox, they are not perfect, but who is? They at least try to present the news in a sensible, balanced way. At times, they lean right, but most times report the facts as they occurred. Lastly, many colleges and universities lean far left and are not open to debate. Many times, this is demonstrated in riots and destruction of property. Watching multiple networks provides different viewpoints, but not balance.

President should not cater to dirty fuel industry

Since the 1960s we have known atmospheric carbon dioxide absorbs radiation emitted from the Earth and is largely responsible for global warming. More recently, it has become clear that the combustion of fossil fuels by humans is largely responsible for the increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide. In the first 100 days of President Trump’s administration, the U.S. has emitted at least 1,370 million metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This is on top of the vastly increased carbon dioxide that was already there. The President’s pandering to the fossil fuel special interests has only exacerbated this problem. The insatiable greed of the fossil fuel industry should not be considered more important than the health and welfare of the people. Furthermore, it is shameful that one of the candidates for the Georgia Congressional District 6 has “embraced” the president’s actions. Does no one care about the welfare of our grandchildren?
