There ain’t no way to hide Dems’ lying eyes

Before our last presidential election, Congressional Democrats complained picture voter ID laws would negatively affect minorities, low-income Americans and the elderly. While Democrats railed against a Republican threat, President Barack Obama had Attorney General Eric Holder sue states that passed laws requiring photo IDs. While Democrats were suggesting that only they were virtuous enough to preserve election purity, the IRS targeted tea parties and other conservative groups to deny or delay applications for tax-exempt status, thus limiting their ability to raise election funds.

A month before the election, the CBO announced there were fewer jobs gained, yet the unemployment rate dropped below Obama’s goal of 7 percent. When four Americans died in Benghazi, Obama and Hillary Clinton lied about an anti-Muslim video as the cause, distracting voters from the truth. Finally, Obama lied about Americans being able to keep their health care plans and doctors. If the electorate had known he was lying about Obamacare, polls now show that he would never have been re-elected.

LEGISLATURE

MLK statue at Capitol is just a token gesture

I would have much more respect for our state legislators if they honored Dr. Martin Luther King by passing legislation that was in keeping with the ideals he espoused rather than legislation to erect a statue. Expanding Medicaid, repealing the “stand your ground law,” restoring austerity cuts to the education budget, refusing to expand the number of locations where citizens can carry guns and refusing to make voting more difficult for citizens are all so much more important than erecting a statue.

Do you really think people can be placated by legislators who enthusiastically vote for a symbol while just as enthusiastically pass or fail to pass legislation that could help create the beloved community for which King worked all his life? Keep your statue, if you can’t do what is just and right.

Reasons why Putin disrespects America

There should be no guessing why Russia is boldly acting in Crimea. Putin has no respect for President Obama’s military inexperience and lack of foreign policy courage. He sees an ineffective Congress. Our intelligence organizations are out of control, domestically and globally. We have few friends in Europe. He knows our military allows women and homosexuals to serve. He looks at America’s disastrous military campaigns ever since World War II and chuckles. Since Obama hasn’t been able to confiscate our guns, at least citizens can make the Russians fight inch-by-inch to conquer us the day Putin decides to take over America.
