Impossible to be racist, given there’s only one race

Regarding former state Rep. Jason Spencer, R-Woodbine, and an alleged racial slur: According to the King James Bible, God only created Adam and Eve, therefore, there is only one race, and that is the human race, ranging from light beige to dark brown. When God flooded the earth, he left only one family on earth. Thus again, there is only one race, and that is the human race, ranging from light beige to dark brown. The terminology racial slur is a guise. In a free America, citizens have the freedom to dislike whom they please, and at no time can it be racist, since there is only one race on Earth, and that is the human race, ranging from light beige to dark brown.

Moon landing anniversary recalls that age’s drive, ambition

Last Friday was the 49th anniversary of the moon landing. On July 20, 1969, astronaut Neil Armstrong proclaimed, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” It was the new age of wonder, innovation and discovery. Unfortunately, this giant leap resulted in a big stumble. Since that summer of ’69, there’s been little excitement and not much wonder in man’s ability to travel great distances. We still rely on combustible engines to drive from Point A to Point B, though electric cars are becoming more common. It still takes five hours to fly coast-to-coast. Ocean freighters still take weeks to transport goods from continent to continent. Lastly, the current goal of our space program is to put man not on Mars, but back on the moon. Since we accomplished this 49 years ago, shouldn’t that be easy? Apparently not. Getting a person to the moon today is much more costly, difficult and time-consuming than it was 49 years ago. Makes you wonder.
