WATER

Crucial to future, yet leadership is lacking

How times change, and people do not.

Recent articles have said that metro Atlanta’s water needs are only going to grow, as will the region. And as usual, we are doing nothing about it.

Exploits like lawsuits against Tennessee to tap a river there are foolishness at best. Where is the planning? Are our representatives and senators working on this issue? Conservation does help, but that will never meet what the experts say we will need. It is time for “leadership” to step up and illustrate just what that word means. Our fresh water is our region’s lifeblood.

GOOD NEIGHBORS

Thanks to motorists who stopped to help

Not long ago, I was on Mansell Road during rush hour. I had just come from a doctor’s appointment for a broken shoulder.

My car suddenly stalled, and I couldn’t get it started again. I was alone when suddenly, three people got out of their cars in the midst of heavy traffic: a white woman, a white man and a black man. All of them proceeded to push my car to a safety zone. They then proceeded on their way before I had a chance to thank them properly.

Bless you, my angels, for being among us. I am so grateful to know you exist.

ZIMMERMAN TRIAL

In fatal confrontation, who was stalking who?

I keep reading that George Zimmerman stalked Trayvon Martin.

The liberal media wants you to believe that Martin was hunted down. Give me a break. Is it illegal for crime-ridden communities to have a neighborhood watch program? Is it now permissible to sucker punch someone, then proceed to slam their head against concrete? Isn’t it possible that Martin stalked Zimmerman and attacked him?

Anger shows how low we’ve fallen as nation

Those who like to inject the race card into every calamity for personal or political gain have blood on their hands, and will have to answer some day for their acts.

We have become a mobocracy. The vacuum created by the lack of leadership in our government at all levels has been filled by conflicting groups divided along race, socioeconomic status, class and self-interest. We are no longer ruled by law or human decency.

Can you watch the news channels, listen to talk radio, read the newspaper, or watch the Al Sharptons or Sean Hannitys of the world spin their divisive agendas, and come away with any other conclusion? I can’t.

What happened to doing the right thing, and loving your fellow man? The recent Zimmerman trial and its aftermath are very telling of just how low we have fallen. Frankly, I am sick of all of it. Aren’t you?

Defendant must face enormous legal bills

I know that there is a lot of attention being paid to the Zimmerman verdict. The thing that has not been clear on anyone’s radar is the issue of the financial implications for the Zimmerman family. It’s got to be financially ruinous.

I’m aware of the Zimmerman Legal Defense Fund, but the services of an attorney in preparation for the trial, the trial and other related services will probably be well over $1 million. I would be curious to know what the trial cost the Zimmerman family.
