Trump acting in Americans’ best interests
Leonard Pitts proves that Pavlov’s dog is alive and well (“For President Trump, accountability has arrived,” Opinion, March 26). Also, I saw pictures of Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi grinning like Cheshire cats when news was released that the Republican health bill was pulled for further tuning. When these two old liberal has-beens have been put to pasture, perhaps the Democrats can find someone who better represents their socialist agenda. And there’s Pitts’ belief in karma: I knew that Pitts was strange, but I didn’t realize how strange until now. President Trump is acting in the best interests of those who elected him and those hotshot holdouts will rue the day they caused a delay in putting the Republican health-care program in place. President Trump is making a list and checking it twice.

Lowering regulations a giveaway to wealthy
Regarding (“European scientists, officials warn against U.S. climate plan”, News, March 28), the World Resources Institute reports that, in the period from 2000 to 2014, 21 countries out of 67 studied succeeded in decreasing their emissions while growing their GDP. Additionally, The Brookings Institution reports that in the same 14-year period, 33 out of the 50 U.S. states also increased their GDP while lowering emissions.
It is unconscionable that the Trump administration has recently signed an executive order lowering regulations on the dirty-fuel industry, using the pretext of saving jobs.
This is a giveaway for short-term profit by a wealthy few, at the expense of irreparable damage to our environment. This permission to poison air, oceans and streams will never be felt by the signer of this order but will be paid for dearly by the young and generations to come, the world over.
