For almost 20 years, Alprentiss Nash sat in a prison cell, watching his life slip by. It was all for a murder he was convicted of but didn’t commit.
In August of 2012, that nightmare ended when DNA evidence cleared Nash.
Now, he’s dead, killed during a failed robbery attempt.
ABC7 reports, "Police have a suspect in custody. Charges are pending."
Cops confirmed the shooting was “narcotics-related” and say both men were armed.
Nash's attorney, Kathleen Zellner, told the station her client said he was "worried that people were watching him, thinking he had gotten a big settlement."
Nash admitted to being a gang member when he was younger but claimed to have changed during his time behind bars.
Nash reportedly told Zellner, “The streets are too dangerous for me. I've got to get out of here.''
Zellner says Nash was in culinary school searching for a job when he was killed.
