Woman with Down syndrome reacts after receiving promise ring from boyfriend

A video of a 21-year-old woman with Down syndrome is melting hearts everywhere.

Ashley Greenhalgh of New Jersey was celebrating her birthday and high school graduation with family, friends and her boyfriend when someone began recording her opening gifts.
Greenhalgh's boyfriend, Danny Griffiths, stood by her side as she shook each gift in anticipation and opened each one excitedly.

Greenhalgh's sister, Courtney Greenhalgh, posted the video, which has been viewed more than 1 million times, on her Facebook page on June 25.

"Oh my gosh!" Ashley excitedly says when she opens a final gift, revealing a ring in a box. Her family tells her that it is a promise ring, but when Griffiths gets on one knee, the couple talks about marriage.

"I'm going to be married!" Ashley says.

Griffiths finally rises after being reminded that he doesn't have to stay on his knees, and the couple embraces.

"Not only do (Danny and Ashley) both share an unconditional love for one another, they show a genuine appreciation for life on a daily basis," Courtney Greenhalgh wrote. "Danny and my sister have been dating for two years and couldn't be more perfect for each other. They both have each other's best interests at heart.

"Danny and Ashley talk about getting married in the future. While they know that the timing isn’t right just yet, Danny wanted to go out of his way to let my sister know that he will always be there for her and that he only has eyes for her. Danny saved up his own money from his job to get my sister a beautiful diamond promise ring. The presentation of the ring takes this thoughtful gift to a whole new level."
