Comptroller Scott Stringer said in a report this week that New Yorkers have bragging - or whining - rights for working the most hours, in a comparison among the country's 30 biggest cities.
The average full-timer in New York works more than 49 hours, according to the report, which was based on U.S. Census data from 1990 and 2000 and from the 2013 American Community Survey.
Lower-wage workers spend more time commuting and have less access to public transportation. Stringer said the stats behind that support the need for an expanded transit network.

Last August, Gallup found that full-time workers in the United States reported working an average 47 hours per week.
“Half of all full-time workers indicate they typically work more than 40 hours, and nearly four in 10 say they work at least 50 hours,” according to the 2014 survey.
That may not be a bad thing, if you like the job. But another Gallup poll showed only 13 percent of people enjoy going to work. (Source: Washington Post)
