A video of a mother-son wedding dance has many on the internet moved to tears because it shows the groom, Stephen Winn, dance with his mother Amy Winn, 48, who has had multiple sclerosis for almost two decades.
"My husband and I spent weeks trying to figure out how we could make the mother-son dance work with Amy," Cassie Winn, Stephen's wife, told Today.com.
"The night of the rehearsal dinner, we still hadn't decided on what we were going to do," Cassie Winn said. "Stephen pulled me aside and said, 'I'm gonna pick her up so she can really dance with me. Don't tell anyone. I want it to be a surprise."
The video, uploaded to YouTube by Stephen Winn's wife, Cassie Lee Winn, on Oct. 3, had over 12,000 views, and comments repeatedly sum up the clip in one word: "Beautiful."
Ann Winn reaches her arms up around her son's neck as he lifts her and the two dance, slowly rocking side to side as Amanda Cook and Steffany Frizzel-Gretzinger's "Steady Heart" plays.
At various points in the video, which was filmed at the Nashville couple's May 20 wedding in Williamsburg, Virginia, guests can be seen wiping away tears.
"We're just so grateful for all the kind comments and glad the moment has touched so many people," Cassie Winn said.
Cassie and Stephen Winn set up a YouCaring fundraising page to help with Amy Winn's costs for stem cell therapy treatment. Over $10,000 has been raised toward its $24,000 goal.
