An officer is heard over the police radio telling the officers near the scene to stay back. Shortly after that warning, another police cruiser drove up onto the sidewalk and rammed his car into the suspect, breaking the windshield of his car as the suspect flips into the air.

The suspect was identified as Mario Valencia. Valencia was suspected in a series of crimes in Tucson and allegedly stole the rifle from a Wal-Mart.

Valencia survived the ramming. After being hospitalized for two days, he was charged with several felonies.

Marina police Chief Terry Rozema said the officer who rammed his car into Valencia probably saved Valencia's life, in part because Valencia had allegedly pointed the rifle at his own head and threatened suicide when confronted by police after the Wal-Mart robbery on Feb. 19.
