A mother is thanking Arkansas State Police after five officers threw her son an impromptu birthday celebration days after he spent his 10th birthday alone.
"If I am remembering right, this is the only birthday that I have had with people coming," 10-year-old Toxey told KTHV. "They had come to give me all that stuff and make up their own birthday party for me. … I cried a little bit because they did that for me."
Mother Angela Andrews took to Facebook Saturday to vent her frustration after she sent out birthday party invitations to 21 people in her son's class and no one showed up.
“It's the last thing you want to feel for your kid, that no one cared enough to come,” Andrews told KTHV.
The post caught the eye of an Arkansas state trooper, who decided to rectify the situation.
On Monday, five officers arrived at Toxey's home complete with gifts, a birthday cookie cake and a K-9, which they let Toxey play with.
“They ate his cake with him and played basketball with him,” Andrews said, "all out of the goodness of their hearts. They made my sweet baby's day, and his year! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will never be able to repay the kindness you showed my family today!”
Arkansas State Police identified the officers as Cpl. David Frothman and troopers Terry Sawyer, Kyle Sheldon, Brandon Cook and Tim Callison.
