An online app best known for "hookups" is entering the political fray.
Tinder recently launched "Swipe the Vote" in an attempt to match users with a presidential candidate.
"The credit for this goes to our users," Sean Rad, Tinder CEO, told BuzzFeed. "There were a lot of unique ways people were using the app to campaign and advocate."
The game within a game asks users who tap the card to swipe right on stances they agree with and left on those they don't. After swiping through 10 issues, the user is matched with a candidate with similar views.
The user can then tap on the candidate to learn more about his or her platform. The app also helps the user register to vote.
The project was created in partnership with Rock the Vote and Wedgies, a real-time polling platform.
The idea for political activism within the dating app came from Tinder users who were using the program to campaign for Bernie Sanders.
