Teen gives new Jordan's to homeless man

A Louisville, Kentucky, teen is gaining praise across social media for an act of kindness.

WAVE reported that LaRon Tunstill, 14, was working as a volunteer feeding the homeless on Labor Day when he went above and beyond for one homeless man.

Tunstill was volunteering with PurpMe, which the organization's founder, Jason Reynolds, said has multiple meanings.

"Purp stands for 'people uplifting real people,' and it's also short for purpose," Reynolds said. "Everybody has a purpose."

WDRB reported that Tunstill, a freshman in high school, saw the man tiptoeing around.

"So I started looking at what he had on, and I was like, 'You got no shoes,'" he said.

Tunstill asked if he could say a prayer for the man and when he noticed how badly his shoes were worn, handed him his new Nike Air Jordan 11 shoes.

"At first he was like, 'No, I can't take these because these are too expensive,' and I told him, 'Take it, because it's what God wanted me to do,' so I told him to take it from me," Tunstill said.

Reynolds saw what happened and recorded a video of the moments after in a Facebook live video, shared to Purpme's Facebook page.

Tunstill's mother, Camille Carter, was surprised when he came home.

"At first I was upset because we just bought these shoes a day ago for him for school, and then I just realized that's what God told him to do," Carter told WAVE. "I'm very proud."

WAVE reported that someone has already donated a new pair of shoes to Tunstill.

Reynolds has set up a GoFundMe page for his organization and a new van.
