A woman gave birth in a vehicle on the side of Interstate 5 in Seattle when she and the baby’s father were unable to make it to the hospital on time.
The birth occurred during the Friday morning commute, possibly in the southbound I-5 express lanes in North Seattle. The couple then made it to an offramp, where they were met by medics.
Both the northbound and southbound ramps were blocked as medics responded.
The scene was cleared and the mother, baby and father were on the way to the hospital around 7 a.m.
The baby boy's father delivered him six weeks early.
The Washington State Department of Transportation said the baby is healthy and fine.
