As a massive nor'easter sets its sights on the nation's capital this week, residents in the Washington D.C. area are preparing for war...a snowball war.
The Washington D.C. Snowball Fight Association is planning a giant Star Wars-themed snowball fight for Saturday at Dupont Circle Fountain.
According to the event's Facebook page, "Snow Wars: The Snowball Strikes Back" is happening at noon and Star Wars fans are encouraged to dress in costume while they "engage with Storm Troopers, Jedi, Vader and maybe even some Ewoks."
The event description also points out that Trekkies are welcome as well as other "space-themed combatants."
Event organizer Ami Greener tells Fox 5 D.C. that the date and time of the snowball fight are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
"If it is still blizzard conditions, that's not the optimal conditions. We might have to move it. Maybe to Sunday, maybe later on Saturday," said Greener.
Last year, the same association organized a snowball fight in Meridian Hill Park after offices were closed and thousands of workers were told to stay home because of a storm that left 5 to 8 inches of snow on the area.
