Three Virginia boys, all in seventh grade, have been given long-term suspensions that will last until June for playing with pellet guns, not on school property or at the bus stop, but at the home of one of the boys, on property listed as private property, Virginia Beach television station, WAVY reports.
According to Wavy.com, the students claim they stayed in the one boy's yard and did not go to the bus stop with the Airsoft pellet guns. The bus stop is down the street, about 70 yards from the yard.
The boys faced suspension for possession, handling and use of a firearm. Wavy.com reports that Tuesday, it was changed to possession, handling to use of an Airsoft gun. The type of gun had changed, but the fact the students faced punishment had not. The school will revisit the punishment and could allow the boys to return to school in January.
