It’s official: Powerball players hoping to turn $2 into millions are now looking at a bigger jackpot than ever before.
After drawing numbers for an estimated $500 million Powerball jackpot Wednesday, the Multi-State Lottery Association announced it again had no winner.
Lottery officials estimated the jackpot to be a whopping $675 million Thursday morning – $85 million more than any previous Powerball jackpot.
The last record was set in 2013, when a Florida woman won $590.5 million playing the game.
The next drawing is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 9 -- but beware. According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, a player has about a 1 in 292,201,338 chance of winning the Powerball grand prize.
At least one person in New Mexico won $2 million in Wednesday’s drawing, lottery officials said. Meanwhile, players in 12 states won $1 million each.
