A Port St. Lucie woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she set up a fight between her 15-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old girl after the two were arguing over unwanted texts being exchanged.
Heather Salerno, 52, faces charges of child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and disorderly conduct. She was released Wednesday from the St. Lucie County after posting $325 bond.
Salerno told city police there was tension March 30 between her daughter and a classmate who was sending her unwanted text messages. Police intervened and left a message for the other girl to stop with the texts.
Officers checked Saturday to see if the situation was resolved and Salerno told officers that their intervention did not work so she took care of the problem herself - by setting up a fight between her daughter and the other girl at Sportsman’s Park.
Salerno even showed them a video of the altercation, police said. Officers said Salerno was seen on the video witnessing and encouraging the fight between the two girls.
