A body found in a Bradenton-area freezer may be that of an 11-year-old girl, who has been missing since August 2014, police said.

Janiya Thomas has been missing for over a year, but was first reported to authorities on Friday, and police believe they may have found her body inside a freezer at Janiya's granmother's house. Police say the freezer was recently dropped off at the grandmother's house by Janiya's mother and a companion, according the Bradenton Herald.

The Herald reports that police know the identity of the man, whom they believe aided 31-year-old Keishanna Thomas in the transfer of her daughter’s body.

Bradenton Police Department spokesman Lt. James Racky said they received a tip on Sunday that “a man and Keishanna Thomas moved the freezer to the home on Wednesday.” Thomas “refused to talk about” the location of her daughter with officers

Racky called Keishanna Thomas "wicked, wrong, and possibly a killer" when speaking with Bay News 9. "The mother sounds to me that she's guilty," he said. "She's not a mother. I don't know why she's not talking. I think the fact that we found a body now -- hopefully she'll get smart and realize she'll have to cooperate but we're definitely looking at her as number one right now."

Thomas is in the Manatee County jail on contempt of court charges after she denied to give information on her daughter’s location to a judge, the Bradenton Herald reports. Racky said they “have not told her about finding the body in the freezer yet.”
