A t-shirt targeted toward girls at retail chain Old Navy has many people upset.
Mic.com reports that the shirt has the phrase "Young Aspiring Artist" on it with the word "artist" crossed out and the words "astronaut" and "president" written below.
Some thought the shirts were disparaging to those in the creative arts industry.
Others pointed out that the retailer itself uses artists to design their clothes and create their ad campaigns.
In response, Old Navy spokesperson Debbie Felix said, "We would never intentionally offend anyone, and we are sorry if that has been the case. Our toddler tees come in a variety of designs including tees that feature ballerinas, unicorns, trucks and dinosaurs and include phrases like, "Free Spirit." They are meant to appeal to a wide range of aspirations."
An OId Navy representative said the shirt design will be discontinued and removed from stores in response to criticism.
