A simple sign with a simple message in a small Connecticut town:
"We are Sandy Hook. We Choose Love."
Three years ago Monday, the unthinkable happened. Twenty children and six educators were gunned down at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

"Choosing love is not something that is an afterthought, it really is a conscious choice that we try to make every day," Rev. Matt Crebbin of the Newtown Congregation Church told WVIT.
The church is where the choose love sign appeared this weekend.
Crebbins said his home needs to find a way to mark the events, but not relive the trauma.
"We may be in the same chapter of a book, but we're on different pages so part of the way we can care for one another is be aware that different people will be at different places, especially around this anniversary," Crebbin said.
What may make the day more difficult is that Monday is the first time that students and teachers will be in school. The other anniversaries happened on weekends.
Memorials were held over the weekend and there's an interfaith service scheduled for Monday night, WVIT reported.
