A London ad for dating website Match.com is being criticized.
The print ad, seen in subway stations, seems to suggest that freckles are imperfections.
The Huffington Post reported that the ad, which features an up-close image of a woman with red hair and freckles on her face, has drawn complaints, some of which have been on Twitter.
Text on the ad reads, "If you don’t like your imperfections, someone else will."
According to The Guardian, the Advertising Standards Authority, the United Kingdom's advertising regulatory agency received "half a dozen" complaints and is assessing them to see if there is a need for an investigation.
Another advertisement that received at least one complaint shows a man with two different eye colors.
One Twitter user called it, "profiting by bullying."
In a statement, the website said:
Our adverts reveal common perceived imperfections and quirks of Brits -- these include freckles, which some people who have them may see as an imperfection. We think freckles are beautiful and our posters are designed to encourage everyone who has them to be proud. We're sorry if anyone has been offended by our latest ad -- that was not our intention -- but we're really encouraged to see so many people standing-up for what makes them unique.
A spokesperson said Tuesday that the ads will be removed.
