After hearing Ferguson's story, Golden Tickets co-founder Ram Silverman contacted him via Facebook and offered him a free ticket to Sunday's game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.

"Whatever cost we incur, it's worth it," Silverman told CNN. "He's got an amazing attitude."

Ferguson, who is now 30 and lives in Florida, invited his father, Bill, who supported Ferguson and worked to prove his son's innocence.

"Being able to do this with my father after all he's done for me, sacrificing 10 years of his life to prove my innocence – that's when it became real," Ferguson said.

"This is a golden opportunity and one that I will never, ever forget for the rest of my life."
