Thompson used racial epithets in the video, shouted "Trump" and decried the Black Lives Matter movement after a traffic incident Sunday near a Memphis mall.

One of the drivers videotaped the other driver using a plethora of racial slurs.

The video has already been viewed millions of times and is getting attention nationwide.

On Sunday, WHBQ interviewed the man who recorded the video, named Brandon.

Brandon said he was on the road looking for somewhere to eat when he decided to go to the first food place he saw, which was Starbucks.

"I put on my turn signal to get over. I had way more than enough space to get over.

Brandon said that it's common in Memphis for drivers to prevent others from getting in front of them in a lane as soon as they see a turn signal. He said Thompson was driving close behind him and when Brandon got in the left lane to turn into Starbucks, Thompson flipped him off in the right lane.

He said that although he was upset, his intention was to peacefully speak to Thompson and let him know that this will not be the last time he may have a confrontation with another driver on the road.

"Instead of going to the Starbucks, I made a right where he made a right," Brandon said. "So I pulled (up) next to the guy, and before I could get a logical word in, the guy just started going on this racist tangent."

"The majority of all the racial slur stuff started happening after I started recording," he said. "Before I started recording, there was little threats and stuff but even though he verbally threatened me, I didn't feel like the guy was actually going to do anything."

Brandon said that it seemed like Thompson was about to back off, but he said once he saw he was being recorded, he "had (a) platform to get all the hatred out."
