A second installment of the popular documentary "Making a Murderer" could be in the works.

Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, hinted of a follow up at the Television Critics Association press tour in California Sunday, but said nothing is formally underway.

"The story is unfolding, so we'll certainly look at it," Sarandos told Variety.

Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi developed the 10-part series after spending 10 years covering the story of Steven Avery.

Demos and Ricciardi said they are gathering information but would not say if it would be for a follow up series.

"As we said before, in relation to this story, this story is ongoing, these cases are open. It's real-life so you don't know what's going to happen," Demos told Variety. "We are ready… If there are significant developments, we will be there. And we are looking at other stories, as well."

Ricciardi did give a few more details.

"I think today marks four weeks since the series launched and what we've managed to do in the past four weeks is have several phone calls with Steven Avery, which we have recorded with an eye toward including them in future episodes," Ricciardi told Variety. "We have not returned to Wisconsin in the past four weeks."
