The Las Vegas street magician who brought tears to our eyes with his generous “trick” on a homeless vet is back at it.
You may remember Rob Anderson for his viral video of a few weeks ago. In it, he pretends to rip up the sign of a homeless vet only to magically restore it and provide the man with a monetary gift.
After the positive response he received from his YouTube video, he started a GoFundMe page that raised more than $40,000 for veteran Alan McCracken.
Anderson has posted a new video in which he tells us that McCracken, “being the humble man he is,” only accepted a portion of the money and has moved to California. He insisted the remainder of the money be spent on other veterans.
Anderson makes good on that wish by finding Johnny Hicks, a down-on-his-luck Gulf War veteran. Hicks said he was fired from a government job after taking time off for surgery stemming from a disability he suffered in the military.
Hicks lives in Las Vegas with his wife and four children, and lately the family has had trouble paying bills.
Anderson arrives to the Hicks home under the pretense that he is filming a documentary on veterans. However, it’s soon revealed that Anderson is there for another reason.
Anderson gifts the grateful family with cash, furniture, grocery gift cards and a year’s rent. Then he show’s the family the biggest gift, a new car.
The gifts were paid for through the donations Anderson raised through his fund raising efforts.
Anderson is continuing the effort to help veterans and has started a new fund-raising campaign.
