An Alabama woman has filed a lawsuit against multiple Alabama law enforcement agencies and a concert venue over the way she claims her teenage daughter was treated while  experiencing a grand mal seizure.

According to AL.com, the 32-page lawsuit accuses several police officers from Rainbow City and Gadsden of using excessive force in handling a medical incident concerning the woman's teenage daughter.

The lawsuit states that at a Jan. 16 hip-hop concert, the girl had a grand mal seizure during the concert after the performer left the stage to mingle in the crowd. A stampede of concertgoers rushed musician Kevin Gates, and the girl fell down and was trampled, triggering the seizure.

The girl’s sister was with her when she had the seizure and she called their mother, who was at home.

The lawsuit claims a Center Stage employee  “unceremoniously dumped” the teen girl on the floor in the lobby. That’s when police took over, and allegedly pinned the teenager on  the ground, holding her in a chokehold while using a Taser three times on her body. The girl reportedly lost consciousness and was taken to a local hospital, where the lawsuit alleges that police officers joked about the girl’s condition and threatened to have her committed to a mental health facility.

The mother also claims that she was injured during the incident as an officer used the Taser on her while she tried to assist her daughter. The woman was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Gadsden City and Center Stage officials declined comment on the lawsuit. Rainbow City attorney told AL.com that he had not seen the lawsuit, but that it would be “vigorously defended.”
