The victim was taken to a trauma center by helicopter, according to the Ventura County Aviation Unit.
The victim, who's identity has not been released, was bitten about a mile and a half off the shore, according to CBSLA.com. A fisherman nearby saw the attack, helped the kayaker onto his boat and tried to control the bleeding. Officials said the victim did not lose a limb.
The condition of the kayaker is still unknown.
