The husband of a Henrico, Va., woman who was found unharmed after her disappearance following a bizarre text has been charged with assault, police said.

According to WTVR, Mark Ditto was charged with assault and taken into custody after his wife, Connie Ditto, was found Friday.

Mark Ditto had led the charge to help find his wife, asking the community to help locate her.

Connie went missing on Tuesday night after texting Mark that she was leaving to get a head X-Ray. She was found at an Extended Stay America Hotel unharmed on Friday.

WTVR reported that Connie took out a protective order against her husband with police saying she “was hiding from him because he’s allegedly assaulted her.”

Mark Ditto spoke with reporters in jail, saying the allegations are untrue and her daughters can back up his claim. “I’m totally floored. We as a family are very happy Connie was found unharmed. I’m very sad and sorry for her apparent health problems. I’m very disappointed by what she’s put her family through and all the people across the country who supported her search,” he said.

He added the allegations came from an incident where his wife was drunk and he and her daughters attempted to keep the car keys from her.
