That's when Nicholas Sierra sprang into action. The 10-year-old safety patrol member grabbed a kindergartner and carried her to safety, then returned to the bus and pulled out two other students, the Times reported.

Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies went into the bus to rescue the other children on board, according to the Times. No serious injuries were reported.

The Sheriff's Office does not know what caused the accident but said witnesses saw the driver, 54-year-old Lenoir Sainfimin, push the brakes, the Tampa Tribune reported. Sainfimin, who has not been charged, remained on the bus until all 27 children were safe, according to ABC News. The investigation is ongoing.
