Robert Brown said he had just gotten home when he heard a loud racket outside.
"There was a rattling at the door," said Brown.
Brown told Action News Jacksonville he saw rocks hitting his home, then heard the sound of glass shattering.
Brown said six people barged in and his four children were screaming.
"They were coming into my house with bats and weapons. The only thing I could think of was my kids and I have a katana," said Brown.
Brown said he used that sword to defend his home while calling 911 for help. The sheriff's office several people were in custody following the incident and the one person injured would be OK. We asked the homeowner if he knew the people who broke into his home.
Brown said he is just glad his four kids are OK.
"I didn't want to harm anyone but it come down to a situation of life or death," said Brown.
The homeowner said detectives took his sword as evidence. We are still waiting to find out what charges will be filed in this investigation.
