"My 6-year-old, Camden, hears somebody at the door (and) goes over and unlocks the door just thinking it's his uncle bringing the dog back in," Rains told KYTV Tuesday.

"In walks a 20-year-old he doesn't know. (He) tells my child, 'Don't go tell your mom and dad,' then gets up and walks into my 4-year-old's room and crawls under the bed and pulls things in front of him so we can't -- supposedly -- see him."

But Camden didn't listen to the intruder and woke up his mother, who looked around the house until she gets to children's room.

Justine saw Camden looking under his brother's bed and spotted the intruder's face looking back at her.

Startled, Justine awakened her husband and told him to get his gun.

"I grab my .22 revolver, I grab my flashlight and go into my kids' room," Rains said. "When I look underneath there I see his feet and his jeans."

According to Branson Assistant Chief Stan Dobbins, the intruder, later identified as Brock Rayland Porter-Brown, was probably under the influence of an illegal substance.

Rains said he called his brother-in-law, Cody Luker, and the two men confronted Porter-Brown.

Luker said Porter-Brown asked for a cellphone to call his mother as a way to escape, but Luker, a Marine, ran after him and tackled him to the ground.

"I heard my brother-in-law tackle the guy … and I took off toward the sound and jumped on both of them and we proceeded to hold him down until the cops showed up," Rains said.

Branson Tri-Lakes News reported that Porter-Brown was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault.

He is in jail on $20,000 bail.

Raines is glad his family is safe, despite a few scratches, but said they are installing more security equipment.
