In the wake of Jill Stein demanding a recount in three swing states, President-elect Donald Trump went on a Twitter rant Sunday discussing the election, Hillary Clinton and “the millions of people who voted illegally.”
Trump claimed that besides winning the Electoral College, he also won the popular vote.
“In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
The only problem with that claim is that there is no evidence supporting it.
Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted about Clinton conceding in the election and how the results won’t change. He also tweeted how people should give him a “chance to lead,” now that he is president-elect.
He then tweeted, “It would have been much easier for me to win the so-called popular vote than the Electoral College in that I would only campaign in 3 or 4 states instead of the 15 states that I visited. I would have won even more easily and convincingly (but smaller states are forgotten)!”
Trump's tweets come just a day after he called Stein's demand for a recount a "scam by the Green Party."
Stein, the Green Party's presidential candidate, reportedly raised over $2.6 million, surpassing her original $2.5 million goal on Thursday night. On Saturday, the Clinton campaign announced it would be participating in the recount as well.
