Sheriff's deputies arrested an Ohio woman on Valentine's Day after a spat with her husband turned violent. Authorities said she was angry with him because he didn't get her anything for the holiday.
Around 11 a.m. on Valentine's Day, Washington County sheriff's deputies responded to a home in Belpre Township to find John Hammond, 46, with "scratch marks on his face, sore ribs and a large knot on the back of his head," The Marrieta Times reported.
Hammond told deputies his wife, identified as Kimberly Hammond, 46, had scratched at him and attacked him with a mini baseball bat. She kicked him in the ribs several times while he was semi-conscious, according to The Marrieta Times.
“Kimberly (Hammond) was asked about the incident and stated she was upset because it was Valentine's Day and her husband did not get her anything,” the paper reported.
Kimberly Hammond admitted she had been drinking. Her blood alcohol content was .221 when she took a Breathalyzer test at the Washington County Jail, according to WTAP.
Deputies charged her with felonious assault and domestic violence.
