The first calls to police were about two male deer fighting. When cops arrived, the fight was over and one of the deer was dead.

"They must have been stuck together like that for hours," Officer Ricky Syhre told the Star-Tribune.

"It was kicking around," Syhre continued. "We didn't want any residents to get hurt. We didn't want the deer to get hurt."

Syhre’s partner, John Wareham, used his Taser on the living deer, sending it to the ground.

A resident in the crowd jumped in to help by cutting off an antler, freeing the animal.

Lt. Jackie Glaser has worked in the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for years.

“It is very rare we find one dead and one alive,” she noted.

“Doesn’t happen every day” Syhre said.
