GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A photo of a birthday cake decorated at a grocery store is getting a lot of attention for a very heartwarming reason.
Lisa Aldrich posted a photo of the cake to her Facebook page, explaining that she picked out the cake and asked a bakery worker to write “Happy Birthday Mandy” on it.
She said it took a while, but when she finally got the cake back, she looked at the employee and thanked her without even looking at the cake.
When she finally did, she decided it didn’t bother her.
“After looking, I nervously laughed and headed to check out- it didn’t really matter to me that it looked so bad- I thought people would think it was funny,” Lisa wrote.
But the cashiers told her the girl who helped her has autism and isn’t supposed to write on cakes.
Lisa said one cashier put their arm around her and said, “Thank you for smiling and thanking her… you probably made her day.”
In a follow-up post, Aldrich wrote that the worker who wrote on the cake did not get in trouble for her actions.
