A new book claims John F. Kennedy’s brain was stolen from the National Archives by his brother, Robert.
The New York Post reports the book, called "End of Days: The Assassination of John F. Kennedy" by James L. Swanson, says Robert stole the brain about three years after JFK died.
Swanson is known for his other books about assassinations, including his New York Times bestseller "Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer." (Via HarperCollins Publishers)
The new book says Kennedy's brain was placed in a footlocker but went missing in October 1966. Then- Attorney General Ramsey Clark ordered an investigation, but the brain was never found. Swanson says there's evidence RFK took it. (Via Barnes & Noble)
But you’re probably wondering, “Why?” Well, Swanson says it wasn’t due to a government cover-up, but because testing on the brain would’ve marred the late-president’s image.
"My conclusion is that Robert Kennedy did take his brother's brain — not to conceal evidence of a conspiracy but perhaps to conceal evidence of the true extent of President Kennedy's illnesses, or perhaps to conceal evidence of the number of medications that President Kennedy was taking." Skeptics have long suggested the brain was stolen to hide evidence about the assassination, some saying the brain revealed Kennedy was shot from the front instead of the back, a popular version of events among conspiracy theorists. (Via Fox News)
A writer for Gawker says although Swanson's theory that RFK stole the brain is possible, "This could just be a bold claim made to sell a book on an already oversaturated topic." (Via Gawker)
The book is expected to go on sale Nov. 12, 10 days before the 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s assassination.
