New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has not thrown his hat in the ring for the GOP presidential nomination yet, but he’s on the forefront of calling for cuts in social spending.

Christie called for cuts in Social Security benefits and Medicare premiums for upper-income retirees in a speech he gave in New Hampshire Tuesday.

"In addition to cuts in Social Security and Medicare, Christie also called for giving states more control over Medicaid, the joint federal-state health program for the poor, and for requiring the poor to pay some amount out-of-pocket for their care," according to the Los Angeles Times.

Christie also called for raising the retirement age to 69 over a period of years.
