"It deeply saddens us that two individuals would attack our community with such a senseless, harmful act,” the owners said in a joint statement. “Luckily, no one was physically hurt.”

It started when a man approached a female employee outside after closing, according to a police account. He pointed a handgun at her, forced her to her knees and started asking questions.

He wanted to know how many workers were still inside the West Ponce de Leon Avenue restaurant,  known for its whiskey selection and cocktails. He wanted to know where the money was.

Five employees were still there, including the woman outside. The gunmen, wearing black masks, put them on the floor and tied them up with zip ties.

The robbers demanded personal belongings and questioned them about where the restaurant’s money was kept.

“The suspects took cash from the business and the personal belongings (purses, wallets, phones, keys) from the five victims and fled,” Lt. Jennifer Ross of Decatur police said in a news release.

Police are looking for the perpetrators.
