The city of Woodstock has received an $8,000 grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission as part of the group’s Regional Public Art Program. The ARC developed the program in 2014 to provide matching funds and technical help to communities wishing to create public art.
Woodstock officials said the money will be matched with donations from the Downtown Development Authority, Preservation Woodstock and the Convention and Visitors Bureau and will be used to create a historical mural on the southern wall of the Woodstock Pharmacy facing Elm Street.
City officials said the project will be developed with extensive community input in a process expected to kick off in January.
The Woodstock project is one of four chosen by the regional group from a pool of 16 applicants across six counties.
