Citing a need for more time for the city to revise its zoning regulations, the Woodstock City Council has extended from Dec. 12 through Jan. 9 a moratorium on accepting proposals for certain types of detached single-family home projects.

According to an emergency ordinance adopted by the council, Woodstock “continues to witness unprecedented residential growth,” has an estimated 950 single-family lots ready for construction in 20 subdivisions, and is concerned that residential uses “are beginning to outpace commercial uses within certain areas of the city intended for … employment and commercial uses.”

The moratorium applies to single-family detached projects with lots 7,500 square feet and smaller, and single-family attached projects in the certain zoning districts. No public hearing applications or land development (site) plans for land disturbance permits will be accepted by the city during the moratorium.

The exceptions are projects that were the subject of a public hearing application prior to the moratorium or include an annexation request.
