A man faces multiple charges in Gwinnett County after he allegedly tried to run over another man and instead drove his car with two women and a baby off the road, police say.

Alejandro Jasso sped out of a Duluth apartment complex parking lot and rolled down a ravine on Peachtree-Industrial Boulevard Wednesday night, Channel 2 Action News reported. Two trees were all that stopped the car from tumbling to the bottom.

A witness told Duluth police, “I watched them pop the curb, go airborne and disappear.”

Witness Corey Cochran started recording video as the man who had nearly been struck by Jasso screamed out, “There’s a baby in the car!”

“No sane person tries to run someone over with a baby in the car,” Cochran told the news station.

Video shows an unmarked police car pulled up as the occupants walked back up the hill.

“I didn’t think they would survive,” Cochran told Channel 2. “There’s no way they would survive.”

The 18-month-old baby wasn’t even in a car seat, police said.

A shirtless and allegedly intoxicated Jasso immediately resumed arguing as police handcuffed him.

The women walked out of the woods, one carrying the baby.

“Hand of God, there’s no way they should have survived,” Cochran said. “It’s just nuts, but I guess that’s Atlanta, huh?”

Jasso appeared in court Friday on charges of aggravated assault, DUI, reckless conduct and endangering a child.

He remains in jail without bond, according to court records.
