One of three citizen seats on the nine-member Fayette County Water Committee is open for applications.

Meetings are held at 8 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the water system’s conference room, 245 McDonough Road in Fayetteville, and members are expected to attend 80 percent of them. The group discusses and makes recommendations to the county regarding water system improvements, bid openings, and any concerns related to water quality and availability. Voting members of the board include three citizen volunteers as well as the chairman of the Board of Commissioners, the county administrator, the water system director and the planning director. The two non-voting members are the county attorney and the water system’s consulting engineer.

Applications are available at www.fayettecountyga.gov and must be submitted by Dec. 13. The open term begins Jan. 1 and ends Dec. 31, 2023.
