The Henry County Water Authority is nearing the end of what officials called a very successful outdoor recreation season for local residents.

Public fishing has been available for several years on weekends between March and November at two reservoirs. About 1,400 anglers in 2014 took advantage of these fishing spots. Additionally, this fall marks the second season of hunting on two HCWA properties.

In addition to outdoor recreation, the youth and adult deer hunts are effective tools in managing the deer population which can negatively impact land management by eating at pine trees.

The goal this fall was to trim the deer population by 60 during the youth and adult hunts, and that goal was surpassed with the final count of 72.
