The Union City Police Department will hold a meeting to discuss and prepare the community for an active shooter emergency at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Etris Center, 5825 Lakeside Drive.
Union City aims to enhance preparedness of dangerous shooting situations by providing training to its citizens that includes knowledge of life preserving strategies.
The topics addressed at the meeting include active shooter awareness, incident response and workplace violence. While there is no pattern or method to the selection of victims by an active shooter and these situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly, Union City Police will talk about emergency situations and give tips proven to preserve life and reduce injury.
