The truck fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on I-85 northbound just south of Pleasantdale Road.
According to the state Department of Transportation, the truck was hauling 36,000 pounds of chewing gum additives.
The four right lanes of I-85 northbound were blocked for more than an hour, and at 6 a.m., two of those lanes remained blocked. All lanes were opened about 6:15.
