All northbound lanes of I-675 in DeKalb County were blocked for a couple of hours during Friday’s morning commute after two trucks collided and spilled cargo onto the interstate.

The wreck happened about 5:30 a.m. on I-675 northbound south of I-285.

Daniel Hester, an assistant manager with the state Department of Transportation’s HERO units, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that a box truck hauling mail parcels collided with a flat-bed truck that was carrying sod.

“Both truck lost their loads in the roadway and both ended up off the roadway, one to the right and one to the left,” Hester said.

He said only one minor injury was reported.

Authorities shut down all northbound lanes until about 7:30 a.m., when a left lane was reopened. All lanes were reopened about 8 a.m.

Hester said crews planned to wait until after the morning commute to remove the wrecked trucks.
