Q: The Port of Savannah deepening project has been in the news lately. Toyota has a port terminal in Brunswick, and St. Marys has a naval base. Is either of these rivers deeper than the Port of Savannah?

-- Caroline Knight, Atlanta

A: The Port of Savannah is 42 feet, making it deeper than the Port of Brunswick, which is 36 feet, Robert Morris, the director of external affairs for the Georgia Ports Authority, told Q&A on the News. A current project will deepen Savannah's port to 47 feet, he said. The Port of Brunswick is suited for vessels that transport railroad, auto and machine parts, and breakbulk cargo, Morris said. Savannah's port is better suited for container vessels, he said. Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base is across the St. Marys River from Florida's Port of Fernandina. The depth at the port is 34 feet, deeper at pilot discretion, and there's a dockside berth depth of 35 feet, a port spokesman said.

Q: My husband and I have unsuccessfully tried to contact Equifax by phone and email for information on our credit report. Is there a phone number that will get through to a live person who will be able to answer our questions? Can you provide numbers for the other credit agencies?
