Q: Michael Vick played football at Virginia Tech. I remember he had a brother who played there. Can you tell me where his brother is and whether he pursued any sports after college?
-- Jean Stone, Doraville
A: Marcus Vick, who, like his brother Michael, played quarterback at Virginia Tech, was kicked off the school's football team in January 2006 and entered the NFL draft that April. He wasn't selected and signed a free-agent contract with the NFL's Miami Dolphins, spending the 2006 season with the team. Vick played in only one game, but wasn't re-signed after his contract expired at the end of the 2006 season and never played in the NFL again. Vick, who has had numerous run-ins with the law, denied he was involved in a shooting outside a Virginia Beach, Va., restaurant in June 2010 that occurred during a birthday party for his brother Michael, who is the quarterback for the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles. Marcus Vick's Twitter account says he's a co-founder of V7 LLC, which is the official brand of Michael Vick, according to teamvick.com.
Q: It was my understanding that liquor stores were closed on Election Day, but they were open on this past Election Day.
-- Jan Porter, Sandy Springs
A: State law doesn't prohibit the sale of alcohol on Election Days, but local jurisdictions might have adopted stricter ordinances that prohibit the sale of alcohol on those days, according to the Official Code of Georgia Annotated.
