Q: Did Steve Jobs ever attempt to locate his biological parents? If so, did he find them, and are they still alive? Are his adoptive parents still alive?

—Michelle Hutchinson, Marietta

A: Steve Jobs never met Abdulfattah "John" Jandali, his biological father, a Syrian immigrant, who is 80 and is the general manager of the Boomtown casino near Reno, Nev., according to the Wall Street Journal. Jandali attempted to contact Jobs, after discovering that Jobs was his son in 2005. Jobs never responded to Jandali's emails, a person close to the Jobs family told the paper, but Jandali said he received two short replies. Joanne Carole Schieble, Jobs' birth mother, reunited with her son, according to published reports. She is 79 and lives in California. Paul and Clara Jobs, Steve Jobs' adoptive parents, are both dead.
